Smart Classes/e-Learning

We all know how helpful it is to remember something that is taught visually to us rather than the one that is read through pages after pages. Just imagine, how beneficial would it be for students to understand a chapter visually in class. The concept of smart class education is indeed a blessing to the students of the 21st Century. Technology is changing the way life functions and if it’s for the good, then why not go for it!! Smart classes use all interactive modules like videos and presentations and these visually attractive methods of teaching becomes appealing to students who are already struggling with the traditional method of teaching in a classroom. One of the main reasons behind the constant increase in popularity of smart classes is the fact that this kind of education is perfect for all kinds of students. A classroom has students with varied power of understanding and learning, and studying from notes and other materials becomes difficult for some students. But the use of smart classes and modern technology eases the learning process for all students. Moreover, this kind of education in class promotes more interaction between teacher and student with more participation from both sides. Our teachers are well trained to utilize the touch screen smart board, SAS systems and online examination process.

Central Library

The school library is central to learning and plays a key role as a place for encouraging innovation, curiosity, and problem solving. Your library is a catalyst for literacy and reading and for teaching and scaffolding inquiry learning. School libraries make a difference to students’ understanding and achievement and provide support for teaching and learning throughout the school. The school library is an important part of the school community and reflects and welcomes this community.

To enrich our students, we at Mount Fort High School have a well-stocked library in our school campus in 3 different wings for the needs and likes of both junior and senior students. From daily newspapers, magazines, course related books, autobiographies, encyclopedias, to story books, novels, bestsellers etc. the library is an organized collection of documented information from across the globe.

Laboratories

Science Labs – It is imperative for schools to have the latest and high-quality science lab supplies these days. Science is different from any other subject. In order to understand its concepts, one has to look beyond the books and conventional classroom teaching. Effective teaching and learning of science involve seeing, handling, and manipulating real objects and materials. The knowledge that kids attain in classrooms would be ineffectual unless they actually observe the process and understand the relationship between action and reaction. the school is having well designed separate labs for Physics, Biology and Chemistry. They get a first-hand learning experience by performing various experiments on their own. Students are made to use the models and understand different scientific theories and concepts.

Computer Lab — Here Students are provided with computer education right from the lower primary level. Today, we are lucky enough to have technology that we can put in classrooms. Whether it is a handful of laptops, desktops, or iPads, we realize that the best way for students and teachers to use technology is when it is readily accessible. However, that does lead to the question “what do you do with the computer lab”? The only way in which learners can attain digital literacy is by having hands-on experience with computer equipment. A computer room allows learners to become comfortable in the use of computer equipment. Our computer lab is well equipped with the latest high-end systems and internet facility according to the students need.

Math Lab — The Math Lab is a Library for Mathematics, and what a wonderful place it is to understand how to study math. If you ever think ‘math is hard’, this is the place for you. No one should feel intimidated about math, so come into the Mount Fort High School Math Lab.

We believe that, ‘math is beautiful’. Most students are not math or science majors, and fail to see the beauty or importance of Math. But, in Math Lab, you will witness a lot of activities all centered around making mathematics user friendly: It offers Multiple Teaching and Learning Aids as well as a complete theme-based ambience which helps students to visualize and feel mathematics.

Dance, Music and Art

DANCE: If you have kids, you may be wondering what is the best way to channel their seemingly boundless energy. While traditional team sports are a good way to get your kids physically active, they may not be right for younger children. Dance classes are a great alternative to team sports, and most studios offer lessons for children as young as two or three. Participating in dance classes can be beneficial for kids of all ages. Dancing is a highly physical activity, and kids who take dance lessons regularly should expect to see a significant improvement in their overall physical health. Regular dance practice can increase your child’s flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. The repetitive movements involved in dance can improve muscle tone, correct poor posture, increase balance and coordination and improve overall cardiovascular health. Dancing is an aerobic form of exercise. For children who are overweight, it can potentially help them to lose weight and improve their eating habits. Here Younger dancers begin with classes such as aerobics/Yoga or Turn! Jump! Leap! which explore movement and teach the basics of dance and class etiquette.

MUSIC: “Music learning supports all learning. Not that Mozart makes you smarter, but it’s a very integrating, stimulating pastime or activity,” Guilmartin says. Research indicates the brain of a musician, even a young one, works differently than that of a nonmusician. “There’s some good neuroscience research that children involved in music have larger growth of neural activity than people not in music training. Our trained faculty of music is committed to give the students the tools they need to study and perform, as well as the confidence and inspiration.

ART: “Art does not solve problems, but makes us aware of their existence,” sculptor Magdalena Abakanowicz has said. Arts education, on the other hand, does solve problems. Years of research show that it’s closely linked to almost everything that we as a nation say we want for our children and demand from our schools: academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, and equitable opportunity. Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. The school has an art room having facility for drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery and fabric design that serves for the imagination of our students, high skilled art teacher is present to guide them in their works.

House System

The House Competition provides the framework for pastoral care of students, encourages participation in sporting and cultural extra-curricular activities and promotes leadership development.

The House Competition promotes a keen but good-natured rivalry between House teams to see who will win the House Trophy each year. Points towards this prize accumulate from the various sporting and cultural/academic competitions that are held throughout the year.

By setting up a House System, we suspect that strong house loyalty and a sense of fun and friendly competition will capture the school atmosphere.

The school is divided in to 4 houses –

  • xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The House-system encourages and develops healthy spirit of competition amongst the learners. Also, a sense of unique belongingness gets fostered in the most impressionable minds from very early age. The entire Academic year’s calendar is packed with all types of intellectual, written, spoken, Quiz and sports & games activities in Inter House Format. Students of all Houses partake the whole year through, to show their latent talent(s) under the guidance of House In-charges and House-Tutors to prove their mettle
